Saving time with InDesign

Using Photoshop to create a portfolio is both time consuming and memory hungry.

The same pdf generated from InDesign or Illustrator can be 25 times smaller and contain smooth vector graphics and text.

A pdf document contains ascii text, bitmap images and vector graphics, the best arrangement for small file size and good quality.

Revit – Linking building & site

The best way to place a building on a site model is to use a separate topo file.

Link a Revit building file with Revit topography

This will simplify editing and reduce the size of the file being worked on.

SketchUp massing can be imported into a third file and then linked to the Revit topography.

Don’t rename or move the linked files!

Digital Media & Contemporary Fine Art get holistic with Creative Skills

This morning we’ve been taking MSc Digital media and BA Contemporary Fine Art on a journey through Illustrator, Photoshop, Sketchup, Artlantis and Flash.

We’ve been looking at creative workflows between all of these programs, creating complex shapes in Illustrator, extruding them in Sketchup, rendering in Artlantis, making and modifying selections in Photoshop before importing assets and documents into Flash to create animations and interactive media.  Want to know more about these and other creative software?  Drop-in to Eldon 2.32 or email us at ccicreativeskills@port.ac.uk to arrange an appointment.
